Harnessing Agent-Based Models to Address Food Waste and Market Efficiency in BREADCRUMB
💡 How do marketing standards impact food waste?Â
💡 How can we create solutions that balance sustainability with market efficiency?Â
At BREADCRUMB, the University of Bologna (UNIBO) is developing an Agent-Based Model (ABM) to explore the intricate relationship between food marketing standards and food waste across supply chains.Â
What is an ABM?Â
An Agent-Based Model is a simulation tool that replicates the behavior and decision-making of key actors—such as farmers, retailers, and other supply chain stakeholders. By modeling their interactions, we can assess the effects of different market and regulatory scenarios on food waste and supply chain efficiency.
Our goal?Â
To identify sustainable solutions that minimize food waste while ensuring a well-functioning market.
This research is driven by close collaboration with our case study partners and project members, leveraging data-driven insights to create real impact.
